*James Miller comes crashing through the Ball State offensive line for a 5 yard sack.

*Penix steps up in the pocket and unloads a deep pass almost 50 yards downfield to the Ball State 10 yard line, but was dropped by Westbrook.

*Snyder sends the kickoff out of bounds for the second time in the game. Ball State starts the drive at their own 35 yard line
*Touchdown (11:53 remaining in Q3) Scott races into the end zone from 4 yards out. IU leads Ball State 23-10
*The Hoosiers start the second half with a 33 yard return by David Ellis to the IU 37 yard line.
*HALFTIME. IU leads Ball State 16-10 in the season-opener.
*FIELD GOAL (0:01 remaining in Q2) Justus hits from 49 yards out and gives IU a 16-10.
*Penix avoids a sack and throws a deep ball incomplete. On 3rd down, Penix gets Ball State to jump offsides again. It'll be 3rd and 5 with a few seconds left.
*The Hoosiers move closer to midfield but Tom Allen calls a timeout with 26 seconds left. Penix completes the ball to Philyor for a near-15 yard pickup and runs up to the line to spike the ball and stop the clock.

*TOUCHDOWN (13:58 remaining in Q2) Caleb Huntley punches it in from 1 yard out as Ball State ties the game at 10-10.
*Antwan Davis shakes loose from his defender and makes a catch to set up a first and goal for the Cardinals.
*INTERCEPTION (0:29 remaining in Q1) Penix goes for the far sideline and is cut off by Ball State's defense for an interception. The Cardinals run the ball forward twice and time runs out on the first quarter.
*Another three and out for Ball State and Philyor fair catches the punt around IU's 20 yard line.
*TOUCHDOWN (2:41 remaining in Q1) Two plays into IU's second offensive drive of the season and Penix finds Nick Westbrook across the middle of the field for a deep, 75-yard TD. Hoosiers lead 10-3.
*FIELD GOAL (3:30 remaining in Q1) Ball State evens the game up at 3-3 with a chip shot after Drew Plitt misfired for the corner of the endzone on third down.
*Ball State continues to move the ball on third downs and now it's within ten yards of its first score of the season.
*FIELD GOAL (9:44 remaining in Q1) Logan Justus connects on a 48-yard FG to give IU an early 3-0 lead. In his first drive as the starter, Penix went five of seven for 57 yards passing.
*Penix Jr. fires his first incompletion on 3rd and 7 as the field goal unit comes out onto the field.
*Redshirt freshman Michael Penix Jr. finds Peyton Hendershot on third down for his second completion and a fresh set of downs.

* Simon Stepaniak, Reakwon Jones, Nick Westbrook and Coy Cronk represent IU as team captains for the coin flip. They won the toss and elected to defer, so the Hoosiers will kick off to the Cardinals to start the game.
* The last time these two schools met at Lucas Oil Stadium was September 3, 2011, when Ball State came away with a 27-20 decision.
