Don your blackest clothes, leather jacket and sunglasses. The final film screening of the Buskirk-Chumley Theater’s Summer Sci-Fi series is the Wachowski sisters’ classic sci-fi action thriller “The Matrix.” Catch the film at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 23 at the Buskirk-Chumley theater.

Tickets to the screening are $5 and are available online or at the Buskirk-Chumley box office. Doors for the screening open at 7 p.m.

Starring Keanu Reeves as Neo, “The Matrix” follows a computer hacker’s journey of awakening when he learns that his world is not as it seems. After being recruited by an elusive mastermind named Morpheus, he joins the fight against an evil race of machines harvesting human beings for energy.

The first of a trilogy, “The Matrix” revolutionized the modern action movie, introducing audiences everywhere to a new brand of hyper-violent action cinema and popularizing its iconic slow-motion “bullet time” effect. While critically acclaimed, the movie was followed by two less-than-beloved sequels, “The Matrix Reloaded” and “The Matrix Revolutions.”
