An 8-year-old girl died at IU Health Bloomington Hospital on Sunday night after being injured in a boating accident on Monroe Lake.
Callee Crones-Arias was injured just after 6 p.m. Sunday, said Monroe County coroner Joani Shields in a press release.
A boat propeller struck Crones-Arias while she was boating on Monroe Lake with her father and friends, according to the Indianapolis Star. She was wearing a life jacket.
Shields said Crones-Arias sustained injuries to her chest, abdomen and lower limbs. The cause of death is pending an autopsy scheduled to take place at 8 a.m. Tuesday in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Crones-Arias lived in Martinsville, Indiana. The investigation of her death is ongoing, according to the Monroe County Coroner’s Office.
