Man holds gun to woman’s face after attempt to retrieve cellphone

An unidentified man allegedly held a gun to a 29-year-old woman’s face Tuesday night when she tried to retrieve her cellphone, said Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Ben Burnes.

Burnes said the woman went to an apartment at 2309 Brandon Court to pick up a cellphone she had lent to a man at the address. When she knocked on the door, another man she didn’t know told her the borrower was not there and closed the door.

The woman told police she knocked again. The man opened the door again and pointed a handgun in her face, hitting her with the end of the barrel. The woman said he called her a “bitch” but did not make any verbal threats about shooting her. She then left the area to call the police.

Police were unable to locate the unidentified man, the borrower of the phone or the phone itself.
