23-year-old woman reports Monday night sexual assault

A 23-year-old woman reported being sexually assaulted around 11:30 p.m. Monday in the 400 block of East Second Street, police said.

The woman was walking to her apartment complex after coming back from the gym and the store, according to a Bloomington Police Department press release. She said she had seen a man walking near Second and Grant streets.

As she approached the steps to her complex, she was grabbed by the neck from behind, police said. She lost consciousness from being choked.

The woman said she regained consciousness in a stairwell of the apartment building, where an unidentified man sexually assaulted her before fleeing on foot.

The suspect was described as wearing black or dark-colored clothing and tan or wheat-colored boots.

Anyone with information is asked to call BPD Detective Jeff Rodgers at 812-349-3318.
