Martinsville police chief arrested on charges of taking more paid sick days than allowed

Martinsville Chief of Police Matthew Long turned himself in Feb. 27 on charges of theft and official misconduct.

Long allegedly took unearned overtime pay and more paid sick days than he was allowed, according to a story by the Associated Press.  The Indiana State Police and Indiana State Board of Accounts started investigating him in January, according to a press release.

Long was placed on leave during the investigation.

Long turned himself into detectives the afternoon of Feb. 27 and later bonded out to face impending court appearances, the release said.
