Bloomington man dead in apparent homicide

A 43-year-old Bloomington man was apparently shot to death just before 1 a.m. Thursday, according to a press release from the Monroe County Coroner.

James Michael Troxal suffered at least one gunshot wound to his chest, coroner Joani Shields said. The incident happened on South Knightridge Road, which is a few miles east of Bloomington.

“There is no indication of concern of danger to the immediate area of the event,” a Facebook post from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Department read.

Shields said officials do not believe this was a random act of violence.

Troxal was pronounced dead on scene just after 2 a.m., Shields said. His autopsy is scheduled for 3 p.m. Thursday.
