After a second straight trip to the College Cup, IU fell to Maryland in the national semifinals, 2-0, Friday night in Santa Barbara, California.

It was the third matchup between the two teams this season, but Maryland pulled out its first victory against IU in the most important game of the season.

The goals for the Terrapins came from sophomore midfielder Matt Di Rosa following a corner kick in the 37th minute and from junior defender Donovan Pines following a free kick in the 79th minute.

Maryland had 10 shots as a team in the match, with four shots on target. IU finished the 90 minutes with 15 shots as a team but only three shots on goal. The Hoosiers also had a 6-3 advantage on corner kicks.

IU ends its season with a 20-3-1 record, along with Big Ten Regular Season and Tournament championships.

This marks the second consecutive year the Hoosiers reached the College Cup, but failed to win the national title. IU beat the University of North Carolina in the semifinals last season before losing the championship match in extra time to Stanford University.

The University of Akron and Maryland will face off in the National Championship match this Sunday at 8:00 p.m. EST, after Akron beat Michigan State, 5-1, in the other semifinal Friday.

The championship game will be streamed live on ESPNU.
