A Bloomington citizen called police around 5:30 a.m. Sunday to report hearing gunshots.
Police responded to the intersection of South Basswood Drive and West Bloomfield Road, where the caller reported hearing the shots, but did not locate any evidence.
A resident of the Basswood Apartments found spent bullet casings in the 900 block of Basswood Drive around 10 a.m.
Police found nine 9mm casings in the roadway but did not find bullet holes in any surrounding property.
Officers interviewed employees at the nearby Candlewood Suites hotel who said they heard gunshots as a dark-colored passenger car drove north on Basswood Drive early Sunday.
Police have not identified any suspects and do not think anyone was injured.
“No one came to the hospital with holes,” Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said.
