A 38-year-old Bloomington woman told police she was assaulted early Wednesday morning, dragged behind a Jiffy Lube and raped.
The woman reported she was walking down West Third Street around 3 a.m. when a man crossed the street and asked her for a cigarette.
She initially described him as an athletic white male in his 20s or 30s with a well-maintained, full beard. After a second interview with police, she now describes him as a 35 to 40-year-old man, approximately 6 feet tall with short black hair, wearing a blue hoodie and blue jeans. She also said that she did not previously know the man.
While she was pulling out a cigarette for him, she reported he began attacking her, punching her in the face and stomach, and then choking her.
She told officers he then dragged her behind the Jiffy Lube on West Third Street and raped her.
The woman called the police around 7 a.m. Wednesday. She reported the man said if she called the cops he would kill her kids.
Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said the woman was taken to the hospital where she completed a rape kit. Police are waiting for the results.
Officers plan to interview her again Friday and are searching for the suspect.
