It's finally October: Check out these fall events at IU, in Bloomington

Fall is starting to creep in around IU’s campus, making way for new opportunities to take advantage of this October. Make sure to explore all the fall opportunities this month with this list of events and performances to attend to while in Bloomington.

“Without a Clue” 7 p.m. Oct. 5, IU Cinema: Get in the spooky mood with the 30th anniversary screening of "Without a Clue," the classic 1988 comedy about Sherlock Holmes and his trusty sidekick Dr. Watson. This will be premiering as part of the Sherlock on Screen series at IU cinema.

“Chicago” 8 p.m. Oct. 10-11, IU Auditorium : Broadway’s longest-running musical is coming to IU Auditorium this month. Tickets for Chicago are now on sale, and it is a great opportunity to watch one of the most famous American musicals right on campus.

9th Annual Great Glass Pumpkin Patch 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 13, Monroe County Courthouse: This unique tradition, where over 900 handmade glass blown pumpkins are sold, will be at the Monroe County Courthouse lawn this year. The event begins at 10 a.m. and will run until 3 p.m., and is a great way to spend your morning before the Homecoming football game.

Homecoming: IU vs. Iowa, 12 p.m. Oct. 13, Memorial Stadium: This year’s homecoming game is during the month of October and will be played against Iowa. Throughout the day, spectators can tailgate and spend time with family before the noon kickoff where IU fans will gather to cheer on the glory of old IU.

TEDxIndianaUniversity “From Ashes We Rise” series 7 p.m. Oct. 12, IU Auditorium: The acclaimed TEDx talks are coming back to Indiana University this October in a special series called “From Ashes We Rise.” Six speakers are coming to the event to talk about their experiences in overcoming life’s struggles and finding perseverance and strength. Tickets are now on sale online.

Men’s soccer vs. Butler  8 p.m. Oct. 16, Bill Armstrong Stadium: Cheer on IU’s second ranked in the nation men’s soccer team as they play Butler University. The game begins at 8 p.m. and students can get in free with a student ID.

Women’s soccer vs. Penn State 7:30 p.m. Oct. 18, Bill Armstrong Stadium: After watching the men play, support the women’s soccer team as they play Penn State at 7:30. Bring friends and a blanket as you cheer on the Hoosiers. Student tickets are also free with a valid ID.

Modest Mouse  8 p.m. Oct. 19, IU Auditorium: The indie-rock band Modest Mouse is coming to the IU Auditorium for one night only this October. Don’t miss the opportunity to enjoy live music and watch the acclaimed band perform right on campus.

IU Ghost Walk 7 to 9 p.m. Oct. 23,  IU Department of Folklore and Ethnomusicology: Take a tour of IU's most famous spooky ghost sites and listen to terrifying tales with the Folklore and Ethnomusicology Student Association's annual ghost walk. This tradition is meant to get people in the Halloween spirit as they listen to and discover the secrets of IU's campus. Tickets are $3 at the door and are available on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Festival of Ghost Stories 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Oct. 26, Bryan Park: Storytellers spin tales of ghosts, horror and murder at this annual ghost story event. This is a great event for children and adults and is a way to spend time in the outdoors while enjoying the spookiness of October. In case of rain, the event will take place at the Monroe County Public Library .

“Spamalot” 8 p.m. Oct 30-31, IU Auditorium: Another critically acclaimed musical, "Spamalot," is coming to the IU Auditorium this October. A musical version of the parody film “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” “Spamalot” tells the story of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they venture for eternal life and glory. Make sure to grab your tickets for this Tony Award-winning musical.
