Philanthropy season continues for Panhellenic sororities

Panhellenic Association philanthropy events are well underway, with several sororities raising money in the next two weeks. From grilled cheese sandwiches to pumpkins and puppies, the sororities are focused on raising funds for their charities. All events are at each sorority’s house.

Sept. 20: Kappa Alpha Theta is having a night filled with grilled cheese and tomato soup for Monroe County Court Appointed Special Advocates, which represents children in court who have been victims of abuse. Tickets cost $5. The event will take place from 5 to 8 p.m and located at 441 N Woodlawn Avenue. 

Sept. 21: Sigma Sweets is rolling into town to support the Alzheimer’s Association. Ran by Sigma Kappa, the event costs $5 and gets participants access to all kinds of sweet and salty food from restaurants such as the Chocolate Moose, Baked! of Bloomington and Auntie Anne’s. Sigma Sweets runs from 4 to 7 p.m. at 1200 N Jordan Avenue.

Sept. 25: Delta Gamma will be serving pizza and offer games and music at Slices for Sight to help fund Service for Sight, a philanthropy that supports visually impaired people. The tickets cost $5 and the event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. at 105 N Jordan Avenue.

Sept. 27: Alpha Phi is serving chicken sandwiches and fries from Chick-fil-A to support the Alpha Phi Foundation benefitting women’s heart health. Tickets cost $8, and a tank top costs $10. Chick-fil-Aphi is from takes place from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 908 E Third St.

Sept. 27: Pi Beta Phi is running its annual burger and fries event, supporting Read > Lead > Achieve. Tickets for Pi Burger Phi are purchased at the door for $5, and a shirt can be purchased for $10. The event is from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. at 928 E Third St.

Sept. 30: Theta Phi Alpha is having its annual pumpkin and puppies event, charging $5 per ticket for a day full of petting puppies and hot apple cider. The event will benefit the animal rescue Heaven After Hell. The charity helps rescue animals from high kill shelters and find them homes. The event is from 2 to 5 p.m. at 1431 N Jordan Avenue.
