This week the Bloomington Buzz podcast is a little different.

Instead of the top headlines from the past week, we have a full-length interview with one of IU's foremost experts on sports media and athlete activism, Professor Lauren Smith.

With July 4 approaching, patriotism will be on full display through fireworks, American flag bikinis and more. Together with Smith, we investigate just what it means to be patriotic and how that comes out in sports and through athlete activism, such as kneeling during the national anthem.
