Swastika painted on city property

A man called the police Thursday morning after noticing a red swastika painted on one of Bloomington’s electrical boxes.

He told officers he noticed the symbol on a utilities box at South High Street and East Moores Pike, an intersection the man said he passes through regularly.

The man reported he hadn’t seen the swastika before Thursday, but could not identify a window of time when it could have been painted.

Bloomington Police Department Lt. John Kovach said the city’s utilities department has been notified to remove the graffiti.

Police have not identified any suspects, and the case is inactive.
