Fight at Bloomington Community Farmers' Market

A fight occurred early Saturday afternoon at the Bloomington Community Farmers' Market at 400 N Morton St.. Police arrested 30-year-old Joseph A. Cast for disorderly conduct, criminal mischief, robbery, theft and battery as a result of the incident.

Police said a group of four to five people, including Cast, started harassing a vendor at the market. The vendor and other people began to videotape the group with cellphone cameras.

Cast then took the cellphone of someone who was recording, but that person was not the vendor.

The victim who's phone was taken, along with a bystander, knocked Cast to the ground to retrieve the cellphone. The victim put Cast in a headlock to get the phone before police arrived.

Police did not specify what type of booth the vendor was operating.

Police said Mark A. Southern, 50, attacked a female EMT, forcing the driver of the ambulance to stop the car. The female EMT ran out of the ambulance after it stopped. Southern then tried to assault the ambulance driver, and police said Southern attempted to climb into the driver's compartment of the ambulance.

However, the ambulance driver pinned Southern against the console of the vehicle, and held him in place until police arrived.

Fight at Bruster's Ice Cream

Two juvenile males fought early Saturday evening outside Bruster's Ice Cream at 4531 E 3rd St..

Police said the victim and someone the victim knew from school started to walk from the restaurant to a car in the parking lot. However, the victim recognized a man sitting in the car that he had been in fights with in the past, and the victim stopped walking.

The man the victim had been walking with then punched the victim in the side of the face. Police said witnesses to the crime said the man also hit the victim several times while the victim was on the ground following the initial punch.
