Third annual #IUDay set to begin Wednesday

Students get a look at virtual reality at the School of Informatics and Computing during the IU Day scavenger hunt in 2017. The third annual IU Day will begin Wednesday and will entail 24 hours of fundraising, social media posts and global celebrations. 

The third annual IU Day is set to begin Wednesday and will involve 24 hours of fundraising, social media posts and global celebrations, according to the University website.

The first IU Day in 2016 raised $11 million for IU-associated causes and groups and involved more than 9 million people. In 2017, #IUDay was one of the top-trending hashtags on Twitter with more than 12,000 uses of #IUDay across 62 countries, according to IU statistics.  

Potential donors can learn about dozens of different programs and causes and can then donate to different ones.

Events and celebrations will occur on all IU campuses and around the globe at different IU alumni ahnd individual events.

The IU-Bloomington and IU-Purdue University Indianapolis campuses will, among other events, also have scavenger hunts from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, according to the IU Day website.
