Duo allegedly stole $2,800 of music equipment

Melody Music Shop employees reported around $2,800 of musical equipment stolen by the same pair over the past month. Police arrested two supsects, a man and woman, at the East Third Street store Saturday.

Employees told officers the team of 55-year-old Farron Lake and 60-year-old Mia Naifeh spent the month of March stealing small equipment from the store.

The two Bloomington residents reportedly stole 11 different guitar pedals, a synthesizer and a microphone over four or five visits.

Employees reported that Naifeh acted as the lookout, giving signals to Lake as he tucked items under his coat. Police confirmed this story through the store’s surveillance footage.

Lake denied the allegations when Bloomington Police Department officers approached him in Melody Music on Saturday. Naifeh admitted to the scheme.

Naifeh was charged with four counts of misdemeanor theft. Lake was charged with four counts of felonious theft.
