Indianapolis becomes finalist for new Amazon headquarters

Indianapolis joins 19 other cities on the list of finalists.



The company expects to invest more than $5 billion in construction and to create 50,000 high-paying jobs at the new headquarters, according to Amazon's website.

Amazon's current headquarters are in Seattle. The company reported on its website that every dollar invested in Amazon's Seattle headquarters resulted in an additional $1.40 for the city's overall economy.

According to Amazon's website, the company also expects construction and operation to result in tens of thousands of additional jobs and tens of billions of dollars in additional investment in the surrounding community.

Amazon expects to make a decision later this year.
