* Final — No. 2 Ohio State 49 IU 21.

That’ll do it from Memorial Stadium. IU led for much of the first half and was even ahead late in the third quarter, but a flurry of Ohio State touchdowns allowed the Buckeyes to pull away late and win 49-21.

Richard Lagow set an IU record for pass attempts and completed 40 of 65 passes for 410 yards, three touchdowns and two interceptions. He was helped by a solid group of receivers, including junior wideout Simmie Cobbs Jr. who caught a career-high 11 passes for 149 yards and a score.

Senior quarterback J.T. Barrett led the Buckeyes with 304 yards through the air, three touchdowns and no interceptions. Freshman running back J.K. Dobbins led the ground attack with 29 attempts and 181 yards.

IU is now 0-31 against top two opponents in the AP Poll in program history. The Hoosiers move to 0-1 with the loss, and the Buckeyes start the year 1-0.

* 4th quarter (3:55) — Antonio Williams scores his second rushing touchdown of the game for Ohio State. The score is 49-21 in favor of OSU.

* 4th quarter (10:11) — Lagow is intercepted for the second time tonight, this time by Denzel Ward. This may end all hope of an IU win. OSU leads 42-21 with 10 minutes remaining.

* 4th quarter (12:08) — Ohio State is in control of the game. A fumble by Lagow on a sack sets up the Buckeyes with great field position. A J.T. Barrett 11-yard touchdown pass makes the score 42-21 in favor of the visitors.

* 3rd quarter (1:47) — The lead grows for the Buckeyes. J.T. Barrett connects with Johnnie Dixon on a 59-yard touchdown pass through the heart of the IU defense. A two-point conversion is also good. OSU leads 35-21.

* 3rd quarter (4:38) — OSU retakes the lead, now. Just 18 seconds after IU scored, J.T. Barrett connects with Parris Campbell, who speeds past the IU defense for a 74-yard touchdown. Buckeyes back on top, 27-21.

* 3rd quarter (4:56) — IU retakes the lead. Lagow finds Thomas for the second touchdown connection between the two players tonight, this one from two yards out. IU leads No. 2 Ohio State 21-20.

* 3rd quarter (6:57) J.T. Barrett powers through the IU defense for a short, two-yard touchdown run. The score puts Ohio State back into the lead for the first time since early in the first quarter. Buckeyes ahead 20-14.

* Halftime  IU leads Ohio State 14-13.

* 2nd quarter (5:17)  Antonio Williams scores on a one-yard touchdown run for the Buckeyes. The IU lead is now 14-13.

* 2nd quarter (8:12)  Richard Lagow connects with Simmie Cobbs for an eight-yard touchdown pass. Cobbs now has 94 receiving yards for the game. 14-6 IU leads.

* 2nd quarter (10:15)  Sean Nuernberger nails a 19-yard field goal. IU still leads 7-6.

* 2nd quarter (13:13)  Richard Lagow is intercepted in the Ohio State end zone. Jordan Fuller catches the tipped pass and takes it 40 yards on a return.

* 1st quarter (7:50) IU takes the lead 7-3 after an 18-yard touchdown pass from Richard Lagow to Ian Thomas. Play was initially ruled an incomplete pass, but the play was overturned after video review.

* 1st quarter (kickoff) Nick Westbrook, listed as one of the two starting wide receiver for IU, is injured and leaves for the locker room.

* — This is the opening game of the season for both IU and Ohio State. Memorial Stadium was sold out for the game.
