Three IU field hockey players received praise from the Big Ten when the conference released its preseason honors list Monday.
Senior defender Elle Hempt, sophomore forward Ciara Girouard and senior forward Maddie Latino were recognized.
Hempt recorded a goal and an assist for the Hoosiers in 2016, while Latino posted three goals and eight assists.
Girouard had a stellar freshman season with IU in 2016. She scored four goals in her first season as a collegiate player.
IU began the 2017 season this past weekend with two scrimmage wins against St. Louis University and Ball State.
The Hoosiers will start the regular season this weekend, with games against Louisville and Delaware, the defending national champion, in Louisville, Kentucky.
