IU women's soccer releases 2017 schedule

Freshman Julia De Angelis makes a goal attempt early in the first half. The IU women's soccer team tied number 13 ranked Penn State 1-1 Thursday.

The 2017 IU women’s soccer schedule will feature nine home matches in Bloomington and 10 games against teams that qualified for last season’s NCAA Tournament.

The schedule, released Thursday evening, takes the Hoosiers to seven different states and includes two separate trips to Michigan.

IU will play in two nonconference tournaments prior to the start of Big Ten play. The Hoosiers will open the season with the Hoosier Challenge Cup in Bloomington. IU will play Cal Poly and Clemson as part of the tournament.

The Hoosiers then travel to Nashville, Tennessee, to play Vanderbilt and Memphis in the Music City Tournament.

Other notable nonconference games for IU include trips to play Western Michigan, Southern Methodist and North Texas.

Conference play begins for IU on Sept. 14 at Michigan State and concludes Oct. 25 at Ohio State. The Hoosiers will play a total of 11 Big Ten games next season.

In 2016, IU qualified for the Big Ten Tournament for the first time since 2013 with a 4-4-3 mark in conference play.
