Junior runner Daniel Kuhn was announced last Friday as February's USA Track and Field Athlete of the Month.
Kuhn was fresh off two All-American performances at the NCAA Championships. He earned a sixth-place finish in the 800-meter run and also helped out in securing fifth place for the IU men's distance medley team.
Kuhn’s month of February started with an IU record-breaking performance in the 800-meter at the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame. He then helped the Hoosiers' DMR squad qualify for the Big Ten Championships by assisting in a first place finish in the Alex Wilson Invitation.
The middle distance runner ended the month by winning two events at the Big Ten Championships, where the IU men also took home the team title. Kuhn came back from Geneva, Ohio, with the 600-meter crown and another first-place finish in the DMR.
The USA Athlete of the Month Award caps off what has been an outstanding indoor season for Kuhn. He broke multiple school records and played a huge role in IU’s Big Ten title.
After a week off, Kuhn and the rest of the Hoosiers will begin outdoor season by competing in the Big Ten/Pac-12 Challenge on March 24 in Tempe, Arizona.
