Indianapolis club apologizes for prematurely selling Yuengling beer

The Antelope Club, a social club in Indianapolis, released an apology Wednesday for selling Yuengling beer before its official release in Indiana.

Yuengling beer, which is created by the oldest brewery in America, is only available in certain states, primarily on the east coast. Ohio is currently the nearest state in which it is sold.

Yuengling will be officially available in Indiana starting March 6. The Indiana Alcohol and Tobacco Commission cited the Antelope Club for selling Yuengling prematurely. According to the Indianapolis Star, the Antelope Club has been serving Yuengling for three years.

“A number of our members enjoyed this beer, but that still does not excuse the fact that we shouldn’t have jumped the gun,” Antelope Club general manager Brad Klopfenstein said in his formal apology. “The upside is that we can claim to have sold more Yuengling in Indiana in 2016 than any other establishment.”
