A Bloomington woman reported Wednesday that her boyfriend raped her last month after he broke into her apartment.
Police are investigating the crime. The 36-year-old woman reported the rape while an officer drove her to Bloomington Meadows Hospital, where police had taken her 16-year-old son, whom they’d found after he ran away, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Dana Cole said. The teenager frequently runs away, police said, and police quickly found him this time.
An officer drove the teen’s mother to Meadows because she did not have a car at the time, Cole said. During the drive, she told the officer her 37-year-old ex-boyfriend, against whom she has a protective order, used a credit card to open the door of her South Basswood Drive apartment Jan. 27.
She agreed to let him stay the night on her couch because it was cold outside, Cole said. Later in the night, he went into her bedroom and raped her. After about 10 seconds, she slapped him and pushed him off her, and he fled.
The woman told police she’d also seen a stain on the suspect’s pants that she believed to be blood from another woman’s period, which led her to believe he may have had sex with that woman and subsequently given her a sexually transmitted disease during the rape. She had not yet been tested for STDs when she complained to police, Cole said.
Detectives have not located the suspect.
