The Indiana Memorial Union will be home to a variety of events and activities to students returning from winter break during what IMU officials are calling Winter Welcome Week.
The week will begin with a poster sale Monday, Jan. 9, which will continue until Friday, Jan. 13. The event will take place in the Georgian Room and will be open to students and the public from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, according to an IMU press release.
There will also be a Student Involvement Fair where more than 160 student organizations will be represented. The fair is designed for students to learn how to get involved and find things of interest to them.
The Student Involvement Fair will be noon to 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in Alumni Hall and the Solarium.
A local artist - to be announced - will be creating a mural in the Circle Cafe on Friday, Jan. 13. Students are encouraged to assist, according to the press release.
The IMU is also continuing its Late Nite program, said Kaila Messerli, the program director at the IMU.
“We’ve done a lot to make ‘Big Fridays’ bigger,” Messerli said in the press release.
Messerli said the program seemed to be popular with students, and she said she said she felt it was her job to help keep it going and to make it a great event for everyone.
“I personally love our Late Nite program,” said Messerli in the release. “It’s something other than walking down Kirkwood on a Friday night. It brings the community together.”
