Hammond police declare Amber Alert

UPDATE: The Amber Alert has been cancelled. The mother and her son were found safe.

The Hammond Police Department has issued a statewide Amber Alert today for the disappearance of a mother and child Sunday.

Yolanda Walker is a 20-year-old black woman with brown hair and hazel eyes. There is a birthmark under one of her eyes. She was last seen wearing a white T-shirt and Grinch-themed pajama pants.

Raphael Bevineau is a 2-month-old black boy with brown wavy hair, green eyes and a dimpled chin. His clothing is unknown.

Police believe Ralph Bevineau, the child’s non-custodial father, has abducted both individuals and they are in extreme danger. His vehicle is believed to be a gold Chevy Trailblazer or a vehicle of similar size and style.

Hammond is 23 miles south of Chicago.

If you have any information on Raphael Bevineau or Yolanda Walker, contact the Hammond Police Department at 1-888-58AMBER (582-6237) or 911.
