The Kelley School of Business awarded scholarships to 12 incoming freshmen as part of the school’s overall goal of increasing diversity, according to an IU press release.
Any incoming student directly admitted to the business school was eligible to become a Dean’s Council scholar, but special attention was paid to underrepresented groups.
The business school’s dean and the Dean’s Council, which serves as a liaison between the school and the business community, have tried to focus philanthropic efforts on promoting diversity in both students’ financial and cultural backgrounds, according to the release.
Only two of the 12 recipients are from Indiana, and the remaining ten come from Illinois, Georgia, Ohio, New Jersey and Texas.
Students can renew the scholarship provided they keep a major in the business school and maintain good grades.
