Man shoplifts vibrators, lubricant, "body rage" outfit

From stolen lubricants and vibrators to false missing person accounts, a few odd and unexpected crimes were reported to the Bloomington Police Department this week. All of the following accounts were collected from BPD:

Missing Person Mishap:

A 20-year-old man was reported missing by his father Sunday. When officers contacted the supposed missing person, he told police it was just a “bad joke” posted on social media.

Stolen Sign:

An outdoor restaurant sign was reported stolen Monday. An unknown suspect took the sign from Esan Thai on Kirkwood.

Stolen Sex Toys:

A man was arrested for shoplifting and threatening to kill an officer after he tried to steal the “Liquid Virgin” tightening lubricant, the “Horny Honey” arousal cream, the “Silver Bullet” and “Silicone Bullet” vibrators and an “Intimates Body Rage” outfit from Spencer’s Gifts on Tuesday.

The Spencer’s storeowner noticed Jamie Voci, 45, concealing the items in his coat. BPD officers arrived around 4 p.m. to arrest Voci for theft, according to the police report.

Voci was cooperative at first but became aggressive with officers, BPD Capt. Steve Kellams said. Voci threatened to kill an officer in the car ride to the jail.

Voci was arrested on misdemeanor charges of theft and resisting law enforcement and a felony charge of intimidation of a police officer, Kellams said.

A spokesperson from Spencer’s could not explain to the Indiana Daily Student what an “intimates body rage” is, because employees are not allowed to talk with the press about shoplifting cases.

“It’s whatever you think intimate is,” he said over the phone.
