Junior defender earns all-american honors

Junior defender Kate Barber added two more postseason awards to her credit when she was named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-American Third Team and Synapse Sports
All-American team.

These awards come a week after Barber was named to First Team All-West Region by the NFCHA and a month after she was named a unanimous First Team All-Big Ten
selection.

Barber was second on the team in goals scored with eight and recorded seven
assists and tallied two defensive saves in IU’s five conference wins — the most in
program history.

Barber also won the Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week award after consecutive shutout wins against Ohio State on the road and Penn State at home. .

IU Coach Amanda Janney described Barber as a hard-nosed defender who grinds it out in the backfield and makes many good plays. She said Barber is well-respected by her teammates on the field as one of two junior captains.
