Transcription: Theta and D.G. Teams Ready for Li'l Li'l 500
Not to be outdone by the Little 500 teams, Delta Gamma has challenged Kappa Alpha Theta to the third annual “Little Little 500.”
The eight lap bicycle race, will begin Saturday morning at 10 o’clock at the intersection of Eighth street and Woodlawn avenue. The cyclists will carry eggs on spoons in their mouths trying not to break them while riding the laps. Teams will forfeit several seconds from the total race time for broken eggs.
Members of both teams could be seen riding around campus since qualifications May 2.
Delta Gamma riders are Carolyn Cox, Janet Gwin, Nancy Coble, and Doris Schoene, sophomores. Susan-ne Soenksen, senior Diana Fisbeck and Dorothy Ayres, juniors, and Shirley Sermersheim, sophomore, make up the Theta bicycle team.
Col. R. L. Shoemaker, Dean of Students, and William Armstrong, executive director of the I.U. Foundation, will be the official scorekeepers. Teter Marshall, 6 years old, of Bloomington, will drive the official pace tricycle.
The defending champions, Kappa Alpha Theta, are confident about the outcome of the race, but their opponents are in shape for the battle. The traditional egg-beater trophy will be presented to the winning team at the close of the race.
Members of Phi Gamma. Delta and Alpha Tau Omega fraternities will cheer their respective Little 500 coed sponsors at the “Little Little 500.”
