The Bloomington Police Department received a call from the driver of the truck, 63, requesting an ambulance. The driver said Ray walked in front of his vehicle, which was heading north, and he didn’t have time to stop.
A friend of Ray witnessed the accident and told officers that he told Ray not to cross the street, but Ray waved him off and crossed anyway.
Ray was transported to IU Health Bloomington Hospital for injuries to his head and chest. Sgt. Gladish said that, based on the police report, the injuries do not appear to be life threatening.
