Man arrested on drug charges

A man was arrested Tuesday after admitting to Bloomington Police Department detectives that he had been dealing crack cocaine in the Bloomington area.

James Beal, 24, of Bloomington was charged with dealing in cocaine or narcotics and possession of cocaine or narcotics. Police used two controlled buys to confirm Beal possessed the drugs, BPD Sgt. Pam Gladish said.

A controlled buy is when a cooperating witness or undercover police officer purchases illegal items from a criminal suspect. The BPD performed two of these with a confidential informant in October and November.

Police served a search warrant to Beal at his residence at 3365 Acadia Court and found more than 20 grams of crack cocaine in a pillow case.

Officers took Beal back to the station where he agreed to speak with detectives and admitted to the dealings.
