Fightin’ Hoosiers

By John Trumbull

BLOCKING BACK WIL SCOTT- Changed last year from wingback to blocking back, Wil Scott has proved himself in the last 2 years to be one of the finest blockers and tacklers in the Big Ten Conference.

Wil is big enough (6-0, 260 pounds) to withstand the rugged competition of major college ball and possesses good speed. A senior this year, he averaged about 40 minutes a game last year and was a major success.

To illustrate Wil’s defensive abilities, last year he intercepted a Marquette pass and raced 72 yards for a Hoosier touchdown. In his sophomore season Wil was a consistent performer, going 44 minutes in the Michigan game which the Fightin’ Hoosiers won 8-6. He also led the team that year in kickoff returns averaging 26.2 yards.

Wil played high school football under Coach Roger Spiedel, Connelsville, Pa. While in high school he made all-county and all-district honor teams and ran on the mile relay team in track.
