United States Rep. Todd Young, R-9th District, is officially running for re-election.
The two-term congressman, who represents south-central Indiana, confirmed the decision via email Monday morning. He will file with the Indiana Secretary of State’s Office at 9 a.m. Tuesday, according to the email.
Bill Bailey — a former mayor in Seymour, Ind., and democratic representative to the 66th District — are the only two candidates who have publicly declared their intent to run.
Candidates may file with the state through Feb. 7 for the May 6 primary.
Young first won in 2010, taking the seat from former Rep. Baron Hill, D-9th District.
Young will attend the callout meeting for IU College Republicans at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the
Georgian Room at the Indiana Memorial Union, where he will make an official announcement of candidacy.
