Monroe County Court Appointed Special Advocates is seeking volunteers to represent in court child victims of physical abuse, sexual abuse and neglect.
There are currently more than 20 children waiting for advocates, Resource Development Coordinator Kelli Shannon said in a press release.
Training classes meet 9 a.m. to noon Feb. 25 through April 8 on Tuesdays and Fridays. The application deadline for training is Feb. 14.
Volunteers must be 21 or older, submit to a criminal background check and commit to one to two years of service after completing training.
Responsibilities include meeting with the child monthly, talking with case managers, parents and foster parents, and writing reports for and attending court hearings, according to CASA’s website.
