Seven IU football players were recognized Monday evening when the Big Ten announced the All-Big Ten football honorees.
The conference media named junior wide receiver Cody Latimer to the All-Big Ten Second Team for the second consecutive year, and he received honorable mention honors from the coaches. Latimer became the fifth IU player to have at least 1,000 receiving yards in a season. He finished with 72 receptions for 1,096 yards and nine touchdowns on the season.
The Big Ten coaches selected redshirt senior kicker Mitch Ewald to the All-Big Ten Second Team, and he was named an honorable mention honoree by the media. Ewald was 9-of-11 on field goal attempts and 56-of-56 on extra points, which was a single-season record for an IU kicker. His 83 total points is the ninth-best single-season point total in program history.
Junior cornerback Tim Bennett, redshirt senior tight end Ted Bolser, sophomore running back Tevin Coleman, junior center Collin Rahrig and sophomore left tackle Jason Spriggs were honorable mention selections.
Redshirt senior safety Greg Heban was chosen as IU’s Big Ten Sportsmanship Award winner.
