A fire caused damage to a vacant house near IU Health Bloomington Hospital Saturday.
The Bloomington Fire Department responded to a report of a fire at 403 W. Second St. at 1:27 p.m. Saturday.
Once on the scene, firefighters confirmed the active structure fire at the abandoned house, Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Lucas Tate said.
The ground floor experienced extensive damage from the fire, while the second floor had minor damage, BFD Sgt. Jeremy Goad said.
The fire is thought to have originated in one of the downstairs rooms, Goad said.
Firefighters were on scene until shortly before 4 p.m., and surrounding streets were blocked off.
The house, which is owned by IU Health Bloomington Hospital, was vacant at the time of the fire.
