Daleke named vice provost for graduate education

David Daleke, associate professor of biochemistry and molecular biology at IU, was appointed vice provost for graduate education and health sciences by Provost and Executive Vice President Lauren Robel, according to a University press release.

Daleke will oversee graduate education and health sciences initiatives for IU.

He will also continue in his role as associate dean of the University Graduate School, a position he has occupied since 2005.

James Wimbush, dean of the University Graduate School and IU vice president for diversity, equity and multicultural affairs, said he thinks Daleke’s experience within graduate education makes him ideal for the role.

“David has been a tremendous asset to the University Graduate School,” Wimbush said in the release. “He is masterful in working with units and students to find creative solutions to issues that arise, as well as assisting with new degrees and curriculum development.”

Daleke is chairman of the graduate education committee, according to the press release, and serves on the interdisciplinary health sciences committee for creating a Campus Strategic Plan.

“I am thrilled by the opportunity to work with Provost Robel and to serve all graduate programs, as well as health sciences units, on the Bloomington campus,” Daleke said in the release. “I look forward to joining the provost’s staff and to working with my colleagues across the campus to build upon our strengths in graduate and health science education.”
