16 research teams awarded more than $1 million in grants

Sixteen teams of faculty researchers were awarded IU Collaborative Research Grants by the Office of the Vice President for Research at IU, according to a press release.
 
Currently in its third year, the program will provide a little over $1 million in seed funding to researchers from different departments, schools and campuses for transformative research projects that have the ability to attract future external funding.
   
“Team science is a high priority for federal funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health,” IU Vice President for Research Jorge Jose said in the press release.

“The collaborations represented in this year’s grants are outstanding examples of how IU faculty can work  together to study important problems, further their own work and enhance Indiana University’s research profile.”   

Teams that receive the grants are expected to submit external funding proposals within 18 months of their awards, according to the release.

Forty-eight faculty members from a dozen schools received IU Collaborative Research Grants this year.
