Student hit by car, still in hospital

A student skateboarding down Sunrise Drive was hit by a car Tuesday night and sent to the hospital via ambulance for his injuries.

As of 3 p.m. Wednesday, the student, Jake Wood, is still in the hospital in good condition, said Amanda Roach, media relations coordinator for Bloomington Hospital.

Wood was skateboarding near the corner of Seventh Street and Sunrise Drive when a car turning left onto Sunrise Drive struck him.

The driver of the car stated that he did not see Wood until he hit him, IU Police Department Lt. Craig Munroe said.

The driver was cited for traveling left of center.
