Another semester gone before you know it

Wednesday marked the official beginning of spring. With this change in seasons comes warmer days and budding greenery.

And with spring break already behind us, it seems as if we are already entering the final weeks of this academic school year.

With Little 5 week, dead week and finals week, there are just a handful of traditional school weeks remaining.

I’m not sure how we arrived here so quickly.

Winter break doesn’t seem all that long ago.

I can still vividly remember the copious amounts of “relaxing” I did like it was yesterday.

Yet somehow a mere few weeks are all that remain between the duration of the spring semester and the subsequent summer break.

I can certainly see how this prospect may excite some.

I know of many peers who are chomping at the bit to be done with all of their school work.

Many of them look forward to their vacations or finally being able to be with friends and family for a good period of time.

While I see the merit of the endless possibilities summer contains, I’m not sure I want it to come so soon.

Call me crazy, but I actually enjoy being in school.

I appreciate the IU Bloomington campus and the atmosphere it cultivates.

The people are intelligent and interesting, and I am constantly surrounded by an environment that is engaging and ever-changing.

An opportunity to pursue a college degree is an experience that is to be enjoyed, not endured.

College is touted as the best four years of your life.

What they don’t tell you is that those four years can be gone before you know it. Just ask our graduating seniors how quickly their four years have disappeared.

With my sophomore year nearing a close, I will have completed half of my undergraduate degree.

I remember looking forward to the beginning of my college career, and now I’m almost halfway done with it.

I haven’t even scratched the surface of things I’ve wanted to do while in college.

My short time here at IU has been a whirlwind of experiences.

Still, I want more.

The coming of spring has shown me how quickly life goes by.

The remainder of my time in college can be summed up by a pittance of season changes. And I fully intend to make the most of them.

Our time in college is brief and precious. It can pass by you without a moment’s notice if you’re not careful.

Spring is here. Enjoy it.
