Accused armed robber remains at large

Bloomington police are pursuing a suspect believed to have robbed a local gas station Saturday.

Shortly after 6 p.m., a cashier, 20, called in a robbery. The man who reported the incident told police a black male, described as about 5 feet and 10 inches and dressed in dark clothing, walked into the Sunoco gas station, 1305 W. Bloomfield Rd., displaying a handgun and demanded the cash in the register.

Bloomington Police Department Sgt. Scott Myers said nobody was injured in the robbery, and the case remains an active investigation.

The suspect exited the gas station and took off running southeast. Police arrived on the scene and searched the area, but did not uncover a suspect matching the cashier’s description, Myers said.
