A 27-year-old Bloomington woman was reportedly assaulted at about 4 a.m. Sunday outside Night Moves, 1730 S. Walnut St., when her boyfriend punched her in the face and knocked her to the ground in the parking lot.
Bloomington Police Department Detective Sgt. John Kovach said the incident sparked when the victim’s boyfriend came to the gentleman’s club, where the victim works, to discuss arrangements involving their mutual child. The conversation reportedly took a violent turn, and the man punched the woman, knocking her to the ground, and began kicking her repeatedly in the ribcage.
Kovach said witnesses yelled for the man to stop, but nobody phoned 911.
When the woman reported the incident at about 3:35 p.m. that afternoon, the victim told police she blacked out and remembered walking back into the building.
The next detail she recalled was getting into the man’s car and driving to a wooded area, where she said further beating occurred “for hours.” She said the man wrapped his hands around her neck and restricted her breathing, Kovach said. At some point, he gained access to the woman’s purse and reportedly stole more than $1,000.
A warrant has been filed for the man’s arrest on felony charges of strangulation and theft as well as misdemeanor charges of domestic battery.
