The
IU men’s tennis team competed in the ITA Ohio Valley Regional
tournament this weekend, and senior Isade Juneau, junior Dimitrije Tasic
and freshman Elliot Yee competed for the Hoosiers.
All three competed in the single rounds, and Juneau and Tasic came
together for the Hoosiers doubles team. The trio failed to make it to
the last two days of the
tournament.
The three started the first day strong.
Juneau and Tasic were undefeated for the first day of competition in
doubles, taking down Tyler Jeffers and Adam Taylor of Murray State 8-1.
This was followed by a win against Wright State’s Michal Lyzwa and Lauri
Makikalli 8-6 to advance to the quarterfinals
Tasic and Yee saw success in the first rounds of singles Friday. Tasic
was able to beat Hayden Joblin of Wright State in three sets, and Yee,
who was competing in his first collegiate tennis match, won against
Dayton’s Devin Jones in two sets.
Juneau did not compete on the first day of competition because he had a bye due to his No. 7 seed.
After the success of the first day of competition in doubles, Juneau and
Tasic had to face top-seeded John Collins and Mikelis Libietes on
Sunday in the quarterfinals, and the Hoosiers fell 8-6, taking their
doubles team out of the tournament.
Both Tasic and Juneau were able to make it to the singles round of 16
before both were knocked out and failed to make it to the quarterfinals.
Tasic fell in two sets to Middle Tennessee’s Ben Davis.
Juneau was able to push Connor Glennon of Memphis to three sets before finally being defeated.
The losses took Indiana out of the tournament, but the Hoosiers will be
back in action Nov. 1 at the Big Ten Singles Championships in East
Lansing, Mich.
