Gas station employee refuses cash to robber

A man reportedly walked into a local gas station with his hands buried in his sleeves, insinuating he had a gun, and demanded money from the cashier sometime before 3:50 a.m. Sunday.

The cashier, 29, called the suspect’s bluff and refused to empty the register’s contents, Bloomington Police Department Detective Sgt. John Kovach said.

The suspect didn’t attempt to convince the cashier he was armed and left, Kovach said.
The suspect was described as a white male wearing a turquoise mask and weighing between 250 and 300 pounds. The cashier phoned police immediately following the incident.

The case remains active and is still being investigated by Bloomington police.
