Driver pulls gun on bicyclist following minor accident

 A driver allegedly pulled a semi-automatic handgun on a bicyclist heading west-bound along East 10th Street after the bicyclist hit the back bumper of a black Mini Cooper.

The bicyclist had reportedly swerved to avoid a walking pedestrian.

Bloomington Police Detective Sgt. John Kovach said the driver exited the vehicle and began to scream at the bicyclist, 20. The passenger in the car reportedly told the driver to settle down and to reenter the vehicle.

The accident did not cause property damage.

Kovach said the driver and the biker both continued west-bound along East 10th Street when the driver pulled out the gun as the two approached the intersection of East 10th and North Dunn streets. The passenger reportedly insisted that the driver put the gun away. The weapon was never fired.

The bicyclist described both car occupants as black males, the driver approximately 6’2” and the passenger about 5’10”, slim and medium builds, respectively.

The victim veered south on North Dunn Street, Kovach said, and called police immediately following the incident.
