FROM IDS REPORTS
St. Edward (Ohio) High School wide receiver Anthony Young joined IU’s 2013 recruiting class Saturday evening, becoming the 11th player to commit to play for the Hoosiers next fall.
A 6-foot, 170-pound two-sport high-school star from Lakewood, Ohio, Young is not only regarded as a
football player but as a collegiate-level track athlete.
Last spring, as a junior, Young repeated as the Ohio Division 1 state champion in the 200-meter dash.
According to peegs.com, Young said he plans on running track at IU, much like current wide receiver Nick Stoner. A kick returner in high school, Young said he also expects to return kicks as a Hoosier.
Young was making his college decision between IU and Duke but received multiple offers from Bowl Championship Series schools.
Other colleges pursuing him included Cincinnati, Northwestern and Minnesota and multiple Midwestern Athletic Conference programs.
Young is the second wide receiver to commit to IU’s 2013 recruiting class, joining Homestead (Ind.) High School’s Isaac Griffith.
Chase Dutra of Brownsburg (Ind.) High School was recruited as an athlete and could ultimately play receiver, too.
