MIT Technology Review list honors IU grad Soghoian

Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Technology Review magazine recently recognized IU Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research fellow Christopher Soghoian as a member of the 2012 TR35, a list that honors the world’s top 35 contributors to various technological fields who are younger than 35.

Soghoian completed his doctoral degree at IU this summer. His research focused on issues of privacy and surveillance, according to a press release.

“Chris has established himself as a visionary voice in the field of digital privacy,” Center for Applied Cybersecurity Research Director Fred Cate said in a press release. “His research is incredibly important at a time when some of our most fundamental beliefs about basic privacy have come into question. We’re pleased to see his work garner the recognition it deserves.”

The staff of MIT’s Technology Review received more than 250 nominations for the list.

“This year’s TR35 recipients are applying technology to some of our generation’s greatest challenges and innovating to improve the way we live,” said Jason Pontin, editor-in-chief of the Technology Review, in a press release. “We look forward to watching these young technology leaders grow and advance over the coming years.”
