Officers arrested a Bloomington man at about 7:49 p.m. Tuesday after the man allegedly slapped and choked a female victim.
Robert Basler, 42, was arrested on the 2400 block of South Winslow Court and faces preliminary charges of domestic battery and public intoxication, Sgt. Joe Crider said of the Bloomington Police Department.
Crider said police were called to the area after a witness observed Basler choking the victim in a parking lot before leaving the scene. When police arrived, Crider said officers observed the suspect, who was back in the parking lot, and made contact with him. Police also identified the victim.
The victim reported she and Basler had been involved in a relationship for several months and had been living together, but Crider said she refused to cooperate further with police. Officers, Crider said, observed injuries to the victim’s neck and right eyelid.
Before being arrested, Basler denied involvement in the victim’s injuries, Crider said.
