Traffic, construction to affect weekend ceremonies

Visitors to this weekend’s commencement ceremonies should expect traffic delays and construction.

State Road 45/46 Bypass, the two-lane road that serves Assembly Hall, has been undergoing expansion to seven lanes and will not be complete by this weekend’s ceremonies.

The graduate and undergraduate commencement exercises will be held in Assembly Hall.

The graduate commencement ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Friday, and the undergraduate commencement ceremonies will be conducted in two sessions Saturday, one at 10 a.m. and another at 3 p.m.

Jones Avenue, on the southeast side of campus, will also be closed to weekend traffic. The street will be blocked from the east side of University Apartments to the loading dock behind Forest Residential Center. West Third Street construction will also continue to expand the road from two to four lanes this weekend.

Visitors should expect delays and fewer parking spaces.
